Our Parish Vision |
Being members of Christ’s body, our vision is to bring His saving love to all
people, as we live by His words and grow into His Likeness. As part of Jesus’ sayings in John 10, ‘I am the gate …., I am the good
shepherd ……’. We believe and claim Jesus’ promise in John 10:10
‘….. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.’

About the Parish of Maldon |
We are an eclectic bunch of folk with a wide age range. Most services are Eucharistic and sermons reflect emerging biblical understanding, contemporary theology and favour a very inclusive Christian Community. The parish of Maldon is situated in North Central Victoria 140 kilometres from Melbourne, 20 kilometres from Castlemaine and 40 kilometres from Bendigo. The parish, extends from Laanacoorie, some 27 kilometres north west of Maldon, to Yandoit which is 26 kilometres south of Maldon. The parish consists of five churches. These are: Maldon Holy Trinity, All Saints Eastville, St Paul's Laanecoorie, All Saints Newstead and Holy Trinity Yandoit. In addition, there are two Ministries conducted for the two prisons in the area, Loddon Prison in Castlemaine and the Women's Prison at Tarrengower just outside Maldon. Maldon parish helps to support CMS missionaries. We also take an active interest in the work of the Anglican Board of Mission and other missionary organisations. These people model for us the commitment to outreach for which we aim at a local level. Some church land at Maldon was made into a skate park in 2002, with the assistance of the Mount Alexander Shire, providing a scarce facility for young people in the area. Cooperation is strong between our parish and other churches in the district, with combined worship and shared activities happening particularly at Maldon and Newstead and Yandoit. For many years a Parish Fair Autumnl. It has a twofold function; to help bring members from all parts of the Parish together, and the generation of revenue to supplement Parish finances. Two prayer chains are in place to pray for special needs as they arise. The main geographical features of the Maldon parish are Mount Tarrangower with the town of Maldon nestling on the lower eastern side, and the Loddon River. There are two man made dams on the river, Cairn Curran at Baringhup and Welshman’s Reef, completed in 1955, and at Laanecoorie, completed in 1891. Both dams provide excellent recreational facilities for fishing, boating and swimming, when they are not in drought. |
